Events
The Balltown Classic 200 mile
race: This event is a UMCA/Ultracycling Cup event. The route
is 200 miles but may be adjusted for road conditions, etc., at the time of the race.
There are 4 checkpoints. 50 miles, 100 miles(Balltown), 150 miles and the finish.
Riders must check in at these points. Riders do not have to stop, but it is the
riders responsibility to make sure that their check in has been noted by race personnel.
In other words, if you "shout out" your number as you pass the checkpoint, it is
your responsibility to get confirmation that the checkpoint heard you - you cannot
assume that they heard you.
The Balltown 100: The 100
is not an Ultracycling Cup event. Riders will have a single checkpoint at 50 miles between DeWitt
and Balltown. Riders must either provide their own transportation back to DeWitt
from Balltown, or pay a fee to be shuttled back to DeWitt.
Drafting
The Balltown 100 is not a time trial and drafting is allowed.
Rules of the Road
The route primarily follows rural county and state roads, but they are
expected to obey all traffic and stop signs.
Drop Bags
Each rider may have one drop bag to be taken to the Balltown turn around. These must be
tagged and left with the race personnel at the beginning of the race.
Check points
The check points have water, Gatorade and some basic snacks, bananas, pretzels,
etc. Our drivers and vehicles are limited and they are not able to sag riders in!
Lights (headlight and taillight)
Lights are required since the event starts before sunrise. Those without
lights will be held until the race director determines that it is safe to ride without
lights. Those held for lack of lights: Your start time will still
be calculated as being 5AM; this DOES represent a penalty.
Helmets
Approved cycling helmets are required.
UMCA Membership
UMCA Membership must be confirmed or you must purchase the one day UMCA membership.
