Welcome to Quad Cities Randonneurs

Welcome to The QC Randonneurs home. In 2010 UltraMidwest will bring a complete brevet series to east central Iowa and western Illinois. We have been authorized by Randonneurs USA (RUSA) to produce 200, 300, 400 and 600 Kilometer randonnees. The dates are posted on the UltraMidwest home page and on the Big Dogs Calendar! Registration for all 4 brevets is now open, online or with a downloadable form.

Unlike the ultra-races that Ultra Midwest produces, brevets are focused on individual achievement and cameraderie, not competition. The word brevet is from the French for certificate - a long distance bike ride or randonee that has been certified and registered by the completion of a brevet card. The French organization that grants approval for and registers the results of every brevet in the world, is the Audax Club Parisien. This club started in 1904 and in addition to the registering of brevets, it is the primary organizer of the prestigious Paris-Brest-Paris randonee that takes place every four years and covers 1200 kilometers (approx. 750 miles).
In this tradition, QCR produces randonees certified by Randonneurs USA - the only organization in the United States authorized to sanction brevets within this country. As such, QCR brevets do count as qualifying rides for those working toward PBP - or as challenging personal accomplishments for anyone involved.

Brevet Queue sheets are available on the Events page!
