11/19/2008David Thompson54.3On Orca: Hubbard, Sycamore, Rapids City, a couple of loops down to Rt 2 and up the bluffs trying to avoid the wind. Back bp to visit my Dad. Nice warmup to upper 40's.
11/19/2008Grover Everett36Wind WSW 15-25, temp 41 at start. To Ohlman and back, then drove truck to town and left it at dealership for service, biked home Warmer today but breezy.
11/19/2008Bill Lang5251-78 Clear, SE wind, low humidity. The perfect cycling day. Very light wind. Biked Alamo to Santa Ana NWR and back. Did the loop in the NWR. All kinds of signs up for bicycles as to where we can ride, which direction and so on. the only traffic is the daily tram and it never goes over 15 MPH. So why the signs? Well, the NWR is over run by Border Patrol, and they do not adhere to the 15 MPH speed limit. So you might encounter a speeding Border Patrol vehicle flying around the curve on the narrow one-lane paved road. There is no law preventing them from running over a cyclist in the name of catching an illegal.
11/19/2008Greg Zaborac34.750 degrees and mostly sunny. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 34 with wind gusts to 25 and snow flurries. Oh well. SS.
11/19/2008Goose Wieting34.49Vallecito Dam and back. Flatted for the first time since last summer. This beautiful Indian Summer weather continues
11/19/2008Joe Camp16.25Lunch ride with Sam. Pretty nice day, warmer with sun and a bit more breeze. Noticed the bottom bracket was coming loose near the end of the ride.
11/19/2008Melissa Hall17Today there was sunshine and it was warmer. Wished I had more time to ride. The fields seem so bare now and the color in the world is leached away. Off to Pilates tonight. I will listen to Loreena McKennet on the way to begin the relaxation process, grab my mat and head in from the cold. I love the dim lights and soothing music of this class, the tensing of muscle to the breaking point leading to complete relaxation during recovery. It is good to be back. Hope my shoulders hold out or I can work out some modifications. I have missed this world, this class that makes me so much stronger and a little bit taller.

11/20/2008Bill Lang5258-82 PC SSE wind. I headed west and met Frank in McAllen. then we biked south to Anzalduas Park and Granjeno to see the new international bridge being built and the border wall. Those poor people of Granjeno....dust from the construction trucks everywhere and that new ugly wall in their back yard! Then we biked back home.
11/20/2008Debi Hatton47Murphy's Thursday morning ride...Scott K & Perry waited with me for a tri friend who preferred riding outside to her trainer - go figure:) Started out nice & sunny but quickly turned to overcast & windy. Not as fast as usual but I was a little tired. Murphy rode with JJ & a new girl who ordered a dacquiri at lunch & then put the leftovers in her water bottle. Maybe she was trying to stay warm. Now, a couple of hours later, it's snowing.
11/20/2008Grover Everett35Wind NNW 15-25, temp 35, started in Rochester at daughter's house. Biked to Pawnee and stopped at the grocery for a donut. Met Z's sister for the first time. She doesn't claim to know him. Didn't want to pursue THAT so biked on to Taylorville to pick up my truck at the garage. Wow, mechanics make good bucks.
11/20/2008David Thompson67.7My daughter and I took my Dad to visit relatives in Wapello. She dropped me off in Wilton on way back for semi-tailwind ride. Battled the wind going N to Bennett, across to Dixon, Donahue, St Anns rd, to Utica, Forest Grove to HH. Back usual route to my daughters in EM to pick up van. Too bad I didn't have yesterdays wind, it would have been perfect. Plenty chilly with some tailwind, mostly crosswinds. On Orca.
